Telšių miesto centrinis stadionas
Telšiai, Lithuania
The Telšiai City Central Stadium does not hide its history. The long-covered West Stand dominates the view, a structure that was rebuilt after the original contractor went bankrupt and left the project in limbo for years. That work stretched from 2010 until May 2016, when the ground finally reopened. The red seats in that stand are new.
What separates this place from a standard football pitch is the track.
The facility also includes a separate covered basketball arena with 746 seats, though that building was initially constructed without heating, a detail that caused some local debate.
Football has moved through these gates since 1970. FK Mastis Telšiai played here for decades before FC Džiugas took over in 2016. The ground hosted the 2003 Lithuanian Football Cup Final and later the 2016 final, which marked its return to use. The address is Birutės g. 7, a simple street name for a place that has survived bankruptcies and reconstruction projects to remain the centre of Telšiai’s sporting life.
