Theobalds Lane

Theobalds Lane sits quietly in Waltham Cross. The ground opened in 1949. Cheshunt F.C. moved into what was then called Cheshunt Stadium that same year, settling into a site that had once been a gravel pit and later a rubbish tip. The land remembers what it was before it became a football ground.

The natural grass surface is well-maintained, though the 4G pitch nearby serves its purpose when conditions turn wet.

Theobalds Lane has seen its share of memorable moments. More recently, the club reached the Fifth Round of the FA Trophy during the 2021–22 season, beating Bishop's Stortford twice and St Albans City before falling to Stockport County. A young Iain Dowie began his career here in the late 1970s, though that chapter belongs to a different era.

The old name Cheshunt Stadium persists among locals and in certain official communications.
