The Eishalle Deutweg is an ice arena, not a football stadium, yet the workmanship on the exterior suggests a place where people spend time, not just watch sport. The entrance sits back from the street, protected by a small paved forecourt and a row of trees that are still too young to cast any shade.

Inside, the standard of the fixture is clear. The roof structure is a lattice of steel trusses that span the full width of the hall without a central support, which keeps the sightlines unbroken for the spectators. The stands are arranged in a tight, continuous block around the rink, meaning the crowd is always close to the boards. The playing surface is artificial ice, and the boards are lined with advertisements that change depending on the event. The facility opened in late 2002 and has seen no major structural renovation since, which means the view from the seats is exactly as it was twenty years ago.

The capacity for ice hockey sits at 2,496 seats, a number that allows the home team, EHC Winterthur, to fill the hall completely. For concerts, the seating is rearranged to accommodate a standing area, bringing the total capacity up to 4,300. It is a dual-purpose venue: a home for the Swiss League and a stop for international rock acts. The original name was reinstated in 2023 after a sponsorship deal expired, but the wooden shell remains the same. It is a functional building that has served the city without trying to become a landmark.
