Prva Liga Women (Croatia) 2025/26

The Prva Liga Women serves as the second tier of the domestic volleyball pyramid in Croatia, operating directly beneath the top-flight SuperSport Superliga. It functions primarily as a feeder division, ensuring a steady flow of talent between the amateur and professional levels. The structure is straightforward: the league champion earns automatic promotion to the highest division, while the team finishing in last place faces immediate relegation to the third tier, known as the 1. Hrvatska odbojkaška liga. This system maintains a clear hierarchy within the sport, dictated by performance rather than financial status.

The competition is organized by the Croatian Volleyball Federation (HOS), which oversees all official national fixtures. Participation typically involves eight to ten clubs, though the exact number fluctuates based on licensing and availability. In the current campaign, the roster includes Croatia U20 Women, Don Bosco Women, Medvescak Women, Mladost II Women, Olimpik Women, and Pula Women. These sides compete in a round-robin format, culminating in a season-long battle for the uppermost spot in the national structure.

The league plays a crucial role in player development, particularly for younger athletes. The inclusion of national youth squads, such as the Croatia U20 Women’s team, highlights its function as a bridge for emerging talent seeking experience at a higher level than regional leagues offer. While the top tier has seen recent changes in dominance, with MOK Mursa Osijek claiming their first title in 2024/25, the second division remains consistent in its purpose.
