The Copa del Rey de Voleibol is the oldest national volleyball competition in Spain, established in 1951 by the Real Federación Española de Voleibol (RFEVB). It stands as the second most important national title after the Superliga Masculina, which constitutes the top tier of the Spanish volleyball pyramid. This domestic cup competition operates purely as a knockout tournament without promotion or relegation implications.
The format centres on a 'Final Eight' event hosted in a single city over four days. The structure comprises quarterfinals, semifinals, and a final, featuring eight teams selected as the highest-ranked sides from the first half of the Superliga season. Historically, the tournament underwent a significant renaming in 1977, transitioning from the 'Copa del Generalísimo' to the 'Copa del Rey' following the shift to democracy.
Real Madrid Voleibol holds the record for success with 12 titles, making it the most successful club in the competition's history. In the recent 2026 edition, Club Voleibol Manacor claimed the championship by defeating CV Melilla 3-1 in Valencia. That victory attracted a record attendance of 6,215 spectators, highlighting the growing popularity of the event.
The competition is distinct from the Supercopa de España de Voleibol, which serves as a pre-season match contested solely by the previous season's league and cup winners. In contrast, the Copa del Rey functions as a mid-season multi-team knockout tournament. Current participants for the 2025 cycle include clubs such as Cisneros Alter, Boiro, Ibiza, Conqueridor Valencia, Manacor, and Guaguas.
