About

The Coupe de France de volley-ball stands as the primary domestic knockout competition for the sport in France. Organised by the Fédération Française de Volley-Ball (FFVB), the body founded in February 1936, the tournament is split into separate men’s and women’s tracks. The men’s cup began in the 1983–1984 season, while the women’s edition started the following campaign in 1985–1986. It sits as the premier national cup, distinct from the league championship (Ligue A) and the Supercoupe de France, which is a single match between the league champion and the cup winner. There is no "Coupe de la Ligue" (League Cup) in French volleyball.

The format is a straight knockout tournament. The men’s competition typically involves around 30 clubs, including teams from Ligue A (top tier), Ligue B (second tier), and Nationale 1. The women’s competition is smaller, usually involving the 14 clubs of Ligue A. The competition progresses through preliminary rounds (details of which vary by season and division, with amateur clubs often starting earlier in regional qualifiers) to a Round of 16, Quarter-finals, Semi-finals, and a Final. The Final is a single match played at a neutral venue. The winner of the Coupe de France qualifies for the CEV Champions League; if the winner has already qualified via the league, the spot is reallocated.

In terms of history and records, the men’s most successful club is Tours Volley-Ball with 11 titles (wins in 2003, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2019, 2023). Other notable men’s winners include AS Cannes (5), Paris Volley (5), and AS Fréjus (5). The current men’s holder (as of 2026) is Paris Volley. The women’s most successful club is RC Cannes, which holds a record 20 titles, including a streak of 12 consecutive wins from 2003 to 2014. Other notable women’s winners include RC France (4) and Volley Mulhouse Alsace (3). The current women’s holder (as of 2026) is Volley Mulhouse Alsace, which also won in 2025 and 2021. Recent winners include Tourcoing VB (Men, 2025) and Neptunes de Nantes (Women, 2024).
