Lotto Volley League (Belgium) 2026/27

The Lotto Volley League, officially the Belgian Volley League, stands as the premier men's professional volleyball competition in Belgium. Founded in 1944, it occupies the highest tier of the national pyramid. The governing body, the Belgian Volley League (BeVL), organises the championship in partnership with the national federation, Volley Belgium.

The current format distinguishes itself through a cross-border collaboration with the Netherlands. The regular season runs from September to February, featuring a double round-robin among the ten Belgian clubs. Following this phase, the top four Belgian teams enter the "BeNe Conference," a joint elite stage with the leading four sides from the Dutch Eredivisie. In this section, Belgian teams contest home-and-away fixtures against their Dutch counterparts, carrying forward points earned domestically. The remaining six Belgian clubs form the "Challenge Group," playing a separate domestic round-robin for lower rankings and European qualification opportunities.

Deciding the national champion involves a play-off system. The top two teams from the BeNe Conference advance directly to the national semi-finals. The third and fourth-placed teams from that conference, alongside the top two from the Challenge Group, compete in quarter-finals. Semi-finals are played as best-of-3 series, while the final uses a best-of-5 format. Currently, no relegation exists to the second division, Nationale 1, as the league expands to twelve teams. Promotion is not automatic; the champion of Nationale 1 must accept the spot.

Historically, the title has been contested primarily between VC Greenyard Maaseik and Knack Roeselare. Maaseik leads with seventeen titles, while Roeselare holds sixteen. The competition has undergone several name changes due to sponsorship, previously known as the Volleyliga Belgium and the Ethias Pro League. The reigning champion is VC Greenyard Maaseik, having defeated Knack Roeselare in the most recent season.
