Aarhus Fremad beat HB Køge 3:1 in the Danish First Division's third regular season round on Saturday. The hosts held their ground at home and extended a run of solid performances, while the visitors continued to struggle for points. The result keeps Aarhus Fremad in fourth place with 12 points after seven games, and leaves HB Køge in twelfth with just three.
M. Kaastrup opened the scoring in the ninth minute and doubled the advantage before half-time in the 27th. HB Køge pushed back and earned a yellow card for T. Thomsen in the 31st, but the hosts did not travel to make up the numbers. An own goal from A. Pisani in the 53rd minute put the game to bed early, and A. Ludwig added a fourth in the 62nd.
Coaching staff made several changes as the match settled. S. Baekgard came on for Aarhus Fremad in the 55th, followed by M. Schutt in the 58th. HB Køge brought on K. Lunding in the 63rd and R. Brodersen in the 69th, then added M. Warming and M. Kirchheiner in the 79th, before E. Egerton in the 80th.
By then the statistics told a familiar story. HB Køge held 53 per cent of possession and registered 132 attacks, but managed just one big chance. Aarhus Fremad played with 47 per cent possession, created two big chances and shot five times on target. The visitors were more active on the flanks with 28 crosses, but the hosts pinned them back and held on grimly.
The visitors have now lost four of seven games and sit eight points behind the top six. Aarhus Fremad picked up one point more than they needed to stay in contention, and the line has barely moved in the table. It was not a spectacle, but it was enough.
