Match report

Al-Kuwait and Al-Arabi played out a 3:3 draw in the opening round of the Premier League regular season on Monday evening. The match finished with the visitors level on points after a game that swung back and forth throughout. By then, both sides had found ways to keep pace with each other's attacks.

Al-Kuwait took an early lead through A. Khalaf in the twenty-second minute, but Al-Arabi responded quickly. M. Marhoon equalised thirty minutes in before adding a second just before half-time. And here's the thing—Al-Kuwait found a way back into the contest before the break with another goal in the forty-third minute.

The second half opened with Al-Arabi regaining the lead. Z. Qunbar scored in the fifty-third minute, but Al-Kuwait levelled again in the eighty-seventh. The visitors then struck twice more in that same period, with one coming from a penalty, before Al-Kuwait grabbed a late winner of sorts with a goal in added time. To be fair, the final result reflected a game that never really settled.

Both teams finished with five shots on target and five off, though Al-Arabi registered more attacks overall at eighty-eight to seventy-two. Possession was even at fifty per cent each, and each side earned two yellow cards. Al-Kuwait won five corners to Al-Arabi's four, but the visitors had more throw-ins at twenty-seven to eighteen.

The result moved Al-Kuwait up to third place in the table with four points from two matches, while Al-Arabi remained ninth with one point. The hosts have now drawn one and won one, whereas the visitors have suffered one defeat and taken one point from two outings.

This was a game where moments mattered more than sustained pressure. Al-Kuwait had been unbeaten in their previous two league fixtures, while Al-Arabi's recent form had been less consistent. By then, both sides knew they needed something from this opening round.
