Swansea claimed a 1-0 win over Leganes in a Club Friendly on 1 August 2026. The result came after a half without much incident, until J. Opoku broke the deadlock just before the interval. To be fair, the visitors had their chances but the home side held firm.
The goal arrived in the 43rd minute, a moment that shifted everything. Opoku was substituted himself in the 62nd minute, which told you something about his importance. By then, Leganes had already made two changes at the break, bringing on E. Franquesa and M. Widell.
The second half saw Leganes push forward with three substitutions. Y. Kechta came on at 53 minutes, I. Gharbi at 64, and M. Stamenic at 74. Two yellow cards fell in quick succession at 53 and 55 minutes, with a third booking at 88 minutes closing out the contest.
The numbers told a clear story. Swansea controlled 61 per cent of possession and registered 57 attacks compared to Leganes' 25. Four corners to three might suggest otherwise, but the attack count did not lie. The visitors were out of sight by half-time, really.
This result adds to a mixed run for both sides. Swansea had lost 3-0 to Merthyr Town on 28 July but beat Udinese 2-0 before that. Leganes' recent form showed a 4-1 defeat to Real Madrid, though they had drawn twice in their previous outings.
