Yaremenko: Volleyball Federation Targets 2028 LA Olympics
Russia's volleyball federation secretary general says qualifying for and performing well at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics is the top priority for the next two years.
Alexander Yaremenko, secretary general of the All-Russian Volleyball Federation, has set qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics as the federation's central task for the next two years.
"The suspension is over. Now there are only objectives, qualification and a strong campaign at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. This is the main direction of the AVP's work over the next two years," Yaremenko said.
The statement follows the International Volleyball Federation's decision to lift restrictions on Russian teams competing in its tournaments. Russian national sides are due to return to the Nations League in 2027, but the AVP has already opted out of that year's World Championship in Poland, citing concerns over the political climate.
