Camara came through the Académie Yeelen Olympique in Bamako before making his senior debut for the club itself. Within three years the left-footed centre-back had turned out in four different countries: Mali, Senegal, Mauritania and Morocco, a path that ended, for now, with a move to the UAE Pro League.

The breakthrough came at ASC Jaraaf in Senegal, where he won the league title. A short spell at FC Nouadhibou in Mauritania yielded only a single appearance before he joined CR Khemis Zemamra on a free transfer, going on to make 30 appearances and score once for the Moroccan club.

That run of form led to his move to Baniyas SC for a fee of €283,000, the most lucrative transfer of his career so far. Internationally, Camara was capped twice for Mali's under-23 side and was part of the squad that finished third at the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations, a result that sealed qualification for the Paris Olympics. He did not, however, make the final 18-man Olympic squad.

Sources differ on his best position, with some describing him as a defensive midfielder.
