Anes Omerović

Anes Omerović grew up in Dornbirn and worked his way through the Austrian system, with a spell as a teenager at Aston Villa's academy before returning home to sign his first senior contract with FK Austria Wien's Young Violets. From there his career took the shape familiar to many defenders outside the top flight: a move to FC Dornbirn 1913, a year at FC Winterthur in Switzerland, then back to Dornbirn once more before a longer stay at FC Vaduz. A free transfer to First Vienna FC in the summer of 2023 gave him a run that lasted until March 2026, when he left on a free transfer for FK Velež Mostar and signed a contract running to 2028.

Omerović is left-footed and, at 190 cm, built primarily as a centre-back, though he has also featured in midfield during his career. Holding Austrian citizenship, he came through that country's youth set-up, winning caps at under-15, under-16, under-17 and under-18 level, including involvement in Austria's qualification campaign and finals appearance at the 2015 European Under-17 Championship. He has not featured for Austria's senior side. Through family heritage he is also eligible to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina, and his move to Velež now has him playing his club football in the Bosnian Premier League, though a senior call-up from Bosnia and Herzegovina has yet to follow.
