About the player
Bauyrzhan Islamkhan returned to FC Astana in July 2025, back at the club where his career effectively began — he had already worn the shirt on loan in 2013, scoring once in seven appearances before moving on.
At FC Kairat he became captain and the team's defining player, winning the Kazakhstan Premier League Player of the Year award three times, in 2014, 2016 and 2019. The 2016 season stands out: he finished as the league's top scorer with 17 goals, and his strike against BATE Borisov in the UEFA Europa League qualifiers was voted the best goal of the season by BT Sport viewers. Four Kazakhstan Cups and two Super Cups with Kairat followed.
A move to Al-Ain in the UAE in 2020 was interrupted when he received a two-year doping ban that December after testing positive following a match against Al-Sadd. The ban ran until late 2022, and he returned to competitive football with FC Ordabasy in 2023, helping the club to the Kazakhstan Premier League title that year.
For the national team, Islamkhan has been a constant presence since making his debut against Latvia in February 2012, going on to captain Kazakhstan. Between Ordabasy and his second Astana spell, he had a brief stint at FC Turan in early 2025 before returning as a free agent.
