Bismarck Ampofo

Bismark Ampofo's path to Finland ran through West Africa long before Turku ever saw him. Born in Accra, he left Ghana at just 11 to join a football academy in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, spending three years there before moving on to Bamako, Mali, where he stayed for eight years and played for FC Guidars. Only after that long apprenticeship abroad did he return home to join the Rumark Football Academy in Ghana.

His route into Finnish football began with a trial rather than a contract. In late 2022, HJK Helsinki brought him in for a three-week trial, during which he trained and played with their U19, reserve and first teams. HJK ultimately released him without signing him, but the trial had put him on the radar of Finnish clubs. Inter Turku moved for him the following spring, signing him as a free transfer from his academy background on a one-year professional deal with an option to extend.

The move worked out quickly. Ampofo's form in his first months at Inter Turku was enough to earn him a contract extension by the summer, first through to the end of 2025 and later stretched further to 2026. At club level, he has twice lifted the Liigacup, Finland's league cup, with Inter Turku, winning it in both 2024 and 2025.

He remains uncapped at senior international level for Ghana.
