Brian Lukas Koglin

Brian Koglin came through the youth ranks at TuS Bern and Eintracht Norderstedt before joining FC St. Pauli's academy, turning out for the second team for four seasons before working his way into the first-team squad.

That regular football came at 1. FC Magdeburg, where he signed on a free transfer and settled into a squad playing in the 3. Liga, making the bulk of his appearances there over two seasons. A further free move took him to VVV-Venlo in the Dutch Eerste Divisie, where he was reunited with Jos Luhukay, the manager who had worked with him at St. Pauli. Koglin became a regular fixture there, and later at Roda JC Kerkrade, racking up appearances across two seasons at each club, including league, cup and play-off football, and chipping in with occasional goals.

He joined Helmond Sport as a free agent on a two-year contract, continuing a career built almost entirely on free transfers rather than fees. At Helmond he has again established himself as a regular in defence, contributing goals as well as appearances in the league. Koglin is right-footed and has not been capped at any level for Germany, his career instead built steadily across the German second and third tiers and Dutch football rather than through international recognition.
