About the player
Daniel Kelly came through Cambridge Boys and Ringsend Rovers before his senior career began at St Patrick's CY in 2015 — Crumlin United, a return to St Patrick's CY, Bray Wanderers, then Bohemians — before Dundalk signed him in December 2018. It was at Dundalk that his career took shape. His biggest moment on the European stage came in October 2020, when his goal beat KÍ Klaksvík 3–1 and sent Dundalk into the UEFA Europa League group stage. He was named League of Ireland Player of the Month in May 2022, capping five seasons at the club.
His move to Derry City in November 2023 did not work out in the same way. Form was hard to find, and a knee injury needed surgery, ruling him out of the 2024 FAI Cup final. He did score for Derry, against Drogheda United in June 2024, but by December he had left by mutual consent, citing mental struggles and difficulty settling at the club as reasons for the departure.
Kelly has not featured for the Republic of Ireland at senior international level.
