About the player
Dean McMenamy came through the Shamrock Rovers academy and stepped up to the senior side in July 2021, having already had a run with the club's second team the year before.
In January 2023 the move away from Shamrock Rovers became permanent, with McMenamy signing for Waterford on a free transfer. He has stayed there since, extending his contract in 2024 and again in late 2025 to run through the 2026 season. His best return in Waterford colours came in 2024, when he made 28 league appearances and scored three goals; in 2025 he played 29 times but did not find the net, contributing two assists instead.
McMenamy's time at Waterford has brought individual recognition alongside the numbers: in October 2024 the club's Blues Supporters Club named him their Roy Butler Young Player of the Year.
