About the player
Egor Smelov came through Zenit's academy in his native Saint Petersburg before moving to Dynamo Moscow's youth system. He made his senior bow for Dynamo-2 Moscow in 2022 and stayed with the reserve side long enough to help it win the Second League title in 2024, contributing four goals across 45 appearances that season.
His promotion to Dynamo Moscow's first team came in the Russian Cup against Spartak Moscow on 31 July 2024, and he had to wait until March 2025 for his first taste of the Russian Premier League. Opportunities in the capital remained limited — four league appearances and three in the Cup — before the club sent him out on loan to Pari Nizhny Novgorod for the 2025/2026 season.
At international level, Smelov has been a fixture in Russia's youth setup, progressing through the U15, U16 and U17 age groups before earning his first U21 call-up in September 2023 against Uzbekistan.
