About the player

Evelyn Shores had already left college early when Angel City signed her in July 2025, agreeing a deal through 2028. She made her professional debut on 2 August 2025.

Shores grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, after her family moved there from Denver. She joined the UNC Tar Heels in 2020 and stayed through 2024, making 23 appearances with 5 goals and 4 assists. In October 2023 she suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament that cost her part of the season, but she returned for 2024 and helped the Tar Heels win the NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Tournament. She was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team in 2023.

Her performances also carried into the US youth setup. She won the CONCACAF Girls' Under-15 Championship in 2018 and the Sud Ladies Cup in 2022 with the under-20 side, and has featured for the under-17 and under-23 teams as well. In June 2025 she scored the winning goal in extra time against Germany's under-23 side. That same year, she scored in the final of The Soccer Tournament, an event with a $1 million prize, though NCAA rules meant she could not collect a share of it herself.

At Angel City, Shores plays as a left-footed defender or midfielder, wearing the number 15 shirt.
