About the player
Gabriel Barbosa arrived at Farense in July 2026 on a contract running to June 2027. He spent his formative years in Palmeiras' youth ranks, though he never established himself in the Brazilian club's first team and instead built his profile abroad.
He then found a settled run at FC Penafiel in Portugal, where over two seasons he scored between 18 and 20 goals in more than 50 matches. That form earned him a free transfer to Górnik Zabrze in Poland in July 2025, but he made only four appearances there before being sent out on loan again, this time to Tatran Prešov in Slovakia, where he scored three goals in 13 games.
His sole major honour came earlier, with Levadiakos in Greece, where he won the Super League Greece 2 title in the 2021–22 season. He has not been capped by Brazil at senior level.
A forward known for his physical presence at 195cm, Barbosa's move to Farense marks another attempt to find consistent playing time after a nomadic run through loan spells and short stints that has yet to produce a lasting home.
