About the player
Lukas Wallner came through the Red Bull Salzburg system, moving from TSV St. Johann to FC Liefering as a teenager and on into the Salzburg academy before turning professional with Liefering. He made his senior debut there in March 2021 and went on to make 63 appearances for the club in the Austrian 2. Liga over four seasons. A single outing for the senior Red Bull Salzburg squad, in the Austrian Cup during the 2023–24 season, remains his only appearance at that level.
In August 2024 the defender left Austria for Hannover 96, though his spell there played out with the reserves rather than the first team: 25 appearances and three goals for Hannover 96 II in the 3. Liga across the 2024–25 season, without a competitive appearance for the senior side. A year later, in June 2025, he moved on again, joining Hansa Rostock on a free transfer and signing a contract running until 30 June 2029.
At international level, Wallner has represented Austria through the youth ranks, collecting 11 caps and a goal for the U19 side, including a place in the squad for the 2022 UEFA European Under-19 Championship. He has since added three caps for the U21 team.
