About the player
Matvey Pershin came through the youth ranks at Lokomotiv Moscow, where he spent three seasons with the U19 side in the M-Liga and scored 15 goals in 62 appearances, helping the team to a bronze medal in the 2021/22 campaign. He also had a brief taste of senior football with the reserve side, Lokomotiv-Kazanka, in the Second League, though without finding the net.
A move to Zvezda St.
February 2025 brought a free transfer to Dynamo St. Petersburg, and there Pershin turned in his most productive scoring season yet, finding the net six times in 25 Second League matches, including a penalty. That run of form preceded his move to Leningradets in January 2026, initially on a deal until the end of June, with the option of an extension. He has since made seven appearances for the club in the First League.
At youth international level, Pershin was part of the Russia U16 squad that won the UEFA Development Tournament in Romania in April 2019, scoring in a 5-2 win over Cyprus during the competition.
