About the player
Mika Wallentowitz grew up playing for SC Lehe/Spaden and later LTS Bremerhaven and JFV Bremerhaven before Werder Bremen brought him into their academy in 2023. A year later he moved on to FC Schalke 04, where he has developed as a midfielder capable of playing right wing-back.
His breakthrough with Schalke's first team came on 24 October 2025, when he made his senior debut in the 2. Bundesliga against Darmstadt 98. The following season proved decisive for both player and club: Schalke went on to win the 2. Bundesliga title and secure promotion to the Bundesliga, with Wallentowitz part of the squad that achieved it. His performances were rewarded on 6 May 2026, when he signed his first professional contract with the club, tying him to Schalke until 2030.
That summer, Schalke sent him on loan to SpVgg Greuther Fürth for the 2026–27 season.
Wallentowitz has also represented Germany at youth level, reaching the final of the 2026 UEFA European Under-19 Championship in Wales with the U19 side, who finished as runners-up to Spain.
