About the player
Robert Lewandowski's route to the top ran through amateur football in Poland — Delta Warsaw, Legia's reserve side and Znicz Pruszków before Lech Poznań paid €380,000 for him in 2008 and he left with a Polish league title and cup to his name. Borussia Dortmund brought him to Germany in 2010, and he repaid the €4.8m fee with two Bundesliga titles and a German Cup. His move to Bayern Munich in 2014, on a free transfer, was a significant transition in German football.
He was named the world's best player by FIFA in both 2020 and 2021, and UEFA's player of the year in 2020, while collecting the Golden Boot in 2020–21 and 2021–22.
Barcelona signed him in 2022 for €45m, and he added three Spanish league titles, a Copa del Rey and three Spanish Super Cups to his collection before a 2026 move to Chicago Fire on a free transfer.
For Poland, Lewandowski has become the national team's all-time leader in both caps and goals, with 167 appearances and 89 goals, and has represented his country at four European Championships and two World Cups.
