Ryan Porteous

Ryan Porteous grew up in the game through Edina Hibs before moving into Aberdeen's academy, then returning to Hibernian's youth ranks, where he came through to make his senior debut in 2016. A loan spell at Edinburgh City the following season gave him regular football — 23 league appearances and three goals — before he settled into the Hibernian first team. Over close to seven years at Easter Road he made 157 appearances and scored 11 league goals, playing his part as the club reached both the Scottish Cup final and the Scottish League Cup final. He was named Hibernian's Young Player of the Year for the 2021/22 season.

Watford paid a fee reported between £300,000 and £450,000 to sign him in January 2023, and he went on to make 76 league appearances in England. A loan to Preston North End in February 2025 brought 11 appearances and a goal before Los Angeles FC signed him that August for around €865,000, with LAFC also paying Toronto FC $100,000 in General Allocation Money to secure his Discovery Priority rights.

He made seven appearances for LAFC by October 2025. His form carried into the CONCACAF Champions Cup, where he was named to the Round of 16 Best XI after LAFC conceded just two goals across the tie — a run in which he completed 167 passes, made three tackles and two interceptions over 180 minutes on the pitch.
