About the player
Santiago Laurino built his early career in Uruguay with Rentistas, coming through the club's ranks before making the step into senior football and, at times, featuring for the reserve side in the Segunda division. The Paysandú-born midfielder settled into a holding role in front of the back line.
The move that shaped his career came in March 2024, when Laurino left Rentistas as a free agent to join Guayaquil City in Ecuador. He signed a long-term contract with the Ecuadorian club, running through to the end of 2029.
Since arriving at Guayaquil City, Laurino has established himself as a regular in the side, passing the 80-appearance mark for the club. Though he has still chipped in with a handful of goals and a couple of assists along the way.
