About the player
Waniss Taïbi grew up through the Angers SCO academy, working his way from the club's second team into senior football in 2021. He stayed at Angers until 2023, when he moved on a free transfer to Rodez AF. In June 2025, Hannover 96 announced his signing, with the fee reported at around one million euros plus potential add-ons, and Taïbi put pen to paper on a contract running until 2029.
An ambidextrous midfielder, Taïbi is comfortable using either foot. He was part of the France squad that took bronze at the 2019 U-17 World Cup in Brazil, appearing three times as France beat the Netherlands in the third-place match.
Born in Limoges, Taïbi holds dual French and Algerian nationality through descent. Despite his run through the French youth system, he has spoken openly about his wish to represent Algeria at senior level, telling reporters in July 2025 that playing for the Fennecs would be a dream. He said he had not yet heard from the Algerian federation or coach Vladimir Petković.
