Al-Shamal keeps a reserve side in Qatar's Reserve League for the same reason most northern clubs do. Jassim Al Muhaiza passed through that system in a single season across three different national youth categories, and Adnan Abdullah came up through the same pipeline before becoming the first Al-Shamal player capped by the senior Qatar side.
The reserves train and play out of Al-Shamal SC Stadium in Madinat ash Shamal, built with a nod to the nearby Al Zubara Fort and holding 5,000. Yellow and black, the same colours the first team has carried since 1980, and the same nickname follows down the age groups: Al-Fursan Al-Shamal, the Knights of the North.
There is no fixture on the calendar that carries its own name here, but when Al-Shamal II travel, it is Al-Khor, the other club of the north.
