Concord Rangers

Every Island derby against Canvey Island FC is a fixture on the Essex coast. The rivalry runs through the same stretch of Canvey Island the club has occupied since a group of boys, among them Albert Lant's son Steve, began kicking a ball around a pitch near Concord Beach in 1966; Lant formalised the team a year later, and the name of that beach still gives the club its nickname, The Beach Boys.

Danny Cowley took charge during a run that carried the club up three divisions between 2008 and 2015, a spell that turned Concord Rangers from a middling non-league side into Isthmian League Premier Division champions; his brother Nicky was on the pitch for much of it, closing his playing days with 268 appearances in the shirt. The FA Cup gave the club a notable afternoon in 2014-15, when a First Round Proper tie against Mansfield Town finished 1-1 in front of 1,537 supporters at Thames Road, still the ground's record crowd. The FA Trophy final of May 2021 went the other way, lost 0-1 to Harrogate Town, but reaching it at all stood as the furthest the club had gone in the competition.

Relegation from the National League South in 2022-23 was followed by a second successive drop, leaving the club in the Isthmian League North Division by 2024-25.
