Fakenham Town

Fakenham Town needed penalties to finish the job. In the 2025–26 season they beat Haverhill Rovers 2–0 in the play-off semi-final, then had to go to spot-kicks against Soham Town Rangers in the final before the Isthmian League North Division was theirs.

It followed a longer pattern of doing best in Norfolk's own competitions rather than further afield. The Norfolk Senior Cup came to Clipbush Park seven times between 1970–71 and 1998–99, and the Anglian Combination Division One title in 1971–72 sits alongside a clutch of knock-out cups won in the Combination and the Eastern Counties League. In the FA Cup itself, the First Qualifying Round has been as far as the club has reached, most recently in 2026–27.

The club, known locally as The Ghosts, dates back to 1884, when its first match ended in a 2–1 win over Lynn Alexandria. It has not stayed in one place: before settling at Clipbush Park in 1996–97, Fakenham Town had played at Hempton Green, Star Meadow and Baron's Hall Lawn. The amber and black of the home shirts have stayed constant through those moves.

Heacham FC provide the fixture with the sharpest edge, a genuine local derby, with Sheringham, Great Yarmouth Town and Dereham Town making up the wider list of Norfolk rivals. Among the players who have worn the shirt, Gary Setchell is the name still mentioned from the late 1990s, his spell there falling around 1997 to 1999.
