Lechia Zielona Góra

The stadium in Zielona Góra seats just over 7,000. What plays there now under the name Lechia is not, in any direct line, the same organisation that first took the field in 1946 as RKS Wagmo, named after the wagon and bridge works that sponsored it. Through the decades that followed the club passed through Stal, Zastal, a merger that made it MBKS Lechia, then Zryw, then Lechia again — a sequence of mergers and renamings that ended, in 2012, with the original entity folded into UKP Zielona Góra and gone.

The revival came in July 2019, when the football section of KS Falubaz was used to reactivate the club, which returned to III Liga wearing blue and yellow again after a spell of white, green and yellow adopted to match the city's colours. The nicknames that stuck to it — Niebiesko-Żółci, Duma Zielonej Góry, Rycerze Winnego Grodu — speak to a club that positions itself as the city's own, even without a national title to its name.

Domestically, Lechia's honours sit at regional level: it has won the Lubuskie regional cup repeatedly, including in each of the last several seasons through 2024. Its best runs nationally came in the Polish Cup, reaching the quarter-finals in 1986/87 and again in 2022/23. In 2025 the reactivated side won its III Liga group outright and earned promotion to II Liga. Among those to have come through the club and its predecessor sides are Tomasz Kędziora and Tymoteusz Puchacz, both of whom went on to play for the Poland national team; Maciej Murawski, another former player, now serves as club president.

What Lechia still has not done, in either its old or reactivated form, is win a national league championship.
