Milevsko

In the spring of 1981, a team from a town of a few thousand people in South Bohemia found itself in the II. Národní liga, the second tier of Czech football — the highest level Milevsko has ever reached. The stay lasted one season; relegation followed at the end of 1981/82, and the club has not been back since.

Before that campaign, and long after it, Milevsko's story has mostly played out at regional level. Founded in 1920, with its statutes formally approved the following February, the club spent decades building toward that single top-flight season without ever repeating it. What it has instead is a rivalry: matches against FC Písek are known locally as the okresní derby, the district derby, and carry weight regardless of which division either side occupies.

One name from the youth ranks outgrew the town entirely. Jan Koller came through Milevsko's junior side between 1989 and 1994 before leaving for AC Sparta Praha.

Domestically, the club's honours are modest but recent. It won the Přebor Jihočeského kraje, the South Bohemian regional championship, in 2008, and again in 2025, sealing the second title with a 3:0 win over SK Mirovice in the final round of the season — a result that also carried Milevsko up into Divize A. The ground, Letní stadion Milevsko, holds 4,000 and replaced an older pitch known as Na Tržišti back in the 1950s.

What the club has never managed is a national cup run of any note, or a second stretch anywhere near the top of Czech football to match 1981/82.
