Orijent 1919

Promotion from the Croatian second tier returned Orijent 1919 to the top flight for 2024/25 — the first was 1990/91, under the club that went bankrupt and was wound up. The rebuilt version, registered in 2014, kept the founding year in its title.

The club belongs to Sušak, the eastern half of Rijeka. Sušak sat in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia while the western half of the city, then Fiume, sat in the Kingdom of Italy; Orijent and US Fiumana met ten times between 1932 and 1940. The modern Rijeka city derby against HNK Rijeka descends from that division. It has been played 16 times officially since 12 March 1952: 15 wins for Rijeka, two draws, one for Orijent. The clubs last shared a division in 1996/97.

The high point came in 1968/69, when Orijent won the western group of the Yugoslav Second League and then lost the play-off for a place in the top division. Quarter-finals of the Yugoslav Cup followed in 1980/81 and 1982/83.

Stadion Krimeja holds 3,000 and gives the side its other nickname, Crveni s Krimeje, the reds from Krimeja. The red and white came earlier: the first shirts were sewn in 1919 by Tina Godina.
