Panionios Women

Piraeus's side has run Greek women's volleyball for years, which is why it mattered that Olympiacos stood on the other side of the net when Panionios finally lifted a trophy of its own, in the Super Cup final on 24 December 2025.

Panionios, known to its own supporters as the Kyanerythroi, the Blue-Reds, had gone unrewarded through years of meeting Panathinaikos and PAOK in the A1 league. But two cups in a single season, after none at all in its history, changed how the side is spoken about in a competition Olympiacos had dominated.

The section that won those cups traces back to 1926, when Panionios formed a women's volleyball team barely thirty-six years after the wider club itself was founded, entering the championship the following year and, for a stretch between 1926 and 1930, running its own competition for women before the sport had a national structure to hold one.
