Quorn

Quorn sits in the Charnwood countryside of Leicestershire. Men from the local Wesleyan Chapel put the club together in 1924, and for nearly three decades it carried the congregation's name into county football as Quorn Methodists, before dropping the prefix to become simply Quorn F.C. in 1952.

What the club has never had to build from scratch is a rival: Shepshed Dynamo, a few miles up the road, supplies the Charnwood derby, while Loughborough Dynamo and the nearby Barrow Town fill out a fixture list that rarely asks Quorn to travel far.

Most of the silverware belongs to the amateur tiers of Leicestershire football — a Senior League Division Two title in 1950, Division One the year after, the Premier Division at the turn of the millennium — but one result stands apart from the rest: the 1939–40 Leicestershire Senior Cup, won at Filbert Street against Leicester City. A cup taken off a Football League club, on that club's own ground, is not the kind of thing a village side gets to claim twice. The 2024–25 Northern Premier League Division One Midlands championship marks the club's most recent step up.

Luke Varney passed through as a young player between 2000 and 2003, went on to Crewe Alexandra for £50,000, built a career in the divisions above, and came back to Quorn in 2021 to close it out where it started. It is that sort of circuit — chapel side to county football to a name a bigger club once paid for — that the ground on Farley Way still holds.
