UN Kaerjeng 97

The football club that carries its name grew out of that merger logic: UN Käerjeng 97 .

It went up almost immediately. From there the climb was slower — a Promotion d'Honneur championship in 2005, then the club's most productive stretch. Two Luxembourg Cup finals arrived inside three seasons, and both ended against F91 Dudelange. The first, in 2007, was close: 1-2. The second, in 2009, was not close at all. Dudelange won 5-0.

The third-place finish in the BGL Ligue in 2010-11 remains the high point, and it did not last. The club dropped back down and had to win Promotion d'Honneur again in 2016 to return.

Home is the Centre Sportif Käerjenger Dribbel on Avenue de Luxembourg in Nidderkäerjeng, holding 2,500. The shirts are red and navy.

That is the gap. For all the promotions and the two afternoons in a cup final, Käerjeng has never won a senior national title or a Coupe du Luxembourg, and the only club standing in the way on both cup occasions was the same one.
