Yaxley

Yaxley's fiercest fixture is against St Neots Town, played out along the A1 and known locally as the A1 Derby.

The club now known as Yaxley dates its modern history to 1962, though a Yaxley side had turned out as far back as 1894 and a separate Yaxley Rovers formed in 1900. The club settled back on its own name after periods as Yaxley British Legion until 1972, then Coalite Yaxley and Clarksteel Yaxley through the 1980s and into the early 1990s.

Ground standards forced the bigger change. Expelled from the Eastern Counties League in 1992 because Middleton Road fell short of requirements, Yaxley switched in 1994 to Leading Drove, where royal blue shirts have played out the club's football since, in front of around 1,000, 150 of them seated.

The climb up the pyramid has been recent and rapid: promotion to the Southern League Division One Central in 2018, a move to the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands in 2021, then relegation back to the United Counties League Premier Division South in 2023. Sammy Mould took charge in the middle of that spell, appointed in 2022 at 20 years old, the youngest manager English football had seen.

Between 2014 and 2022, Daniel Cotton played 335 games for Yaxley and scored 215 goals.
