There is a new presence on the Karkh side of Baghdad, rising near the Tigris River in the Shalajiya district. The construction was managed by the Iranian company Boland Payeh Co., under the supervision of the Iraqi Ministry of Youth and Sports. It is a modern facility, inaugurated on February 15, 2022, with a clean slate and a capacity that matches the ambition of Iraq's most successful football club.
The stadium is located in the Shalajiya district of Baghdad.
Al-Zawraa SC beat Al-Diwaniya FC 2–0 in the Iraqi Premier League, marking the start of a new era for the venue. Since then, it has hosted matches for Al-Shorta SC as well, including fixtures in the AFC Champions League.
