Before the war the ground belonged to Драгош Воде, a Romanian club. What stands on Ольга Гузар Street today is the third answer to the same question of what Черновцы should have: the postwar Динамо ground came first, then in 1956 local factories, schools and volunteers built a proper stadium on top of it over a run of субботники, and in 1967 the whole thing was rebuilt so completely that most reference books date the arena from that year rather than from the volunteers' work.

Динамо until 1960, Авангард for five years after that, and Буковина from 1965 — the regional name it has kept ever since, and the one the club carries too.

The bowl used to hold 17,000 on benches. Individual plastic seats went in during 2000, and the figure came down to roughly 12,000 where it has stayed. That makes it a large ground for a city of this size, and the gap between the old number and the new one is visible in how much of the structure sits above the seated rows.

The pitch is the most recent piece. Ahead of the 2026/27 season the arena went through a substantial modernisation: Ukrainian-grown rolled turf laid over a new drainage system, with undersoil heating beneath it. Formally the place is registered as the Спортивно-оздоровительное учреждение «Буковина», in the Шевченковский district.
