Clarence Park has existed since 1894. It was gifted by Sir John Blundell Maple, a furniture manufacturer who funded the work of the city surveyor to layout the park. The first match was played in September of that year, and the grounds have remained in St Albans ever since.

The park is shared between football and cricket. The cricket pavilion was restored in 2023, and the venue hosted a match in the 1973 Women's Cricket World Cup. For football, the club saw an FA Cup replay against Dulwich Hamlet end 8–7 after extra time in 1922. More recently, they secured a 3–2 upset win over Forest Green Rovers.

A diseased oak tree in the middle of the West Stand terrace once prevented promotion to the Football Conference in 1993. The tree was removed in 1999, paving the way for the club to finally rise in 2006. Plans for a new stadium were announced in 2013, but Green Belt restrictions have kept the ground exactly where it has always been.
