Stadium
Daejeon World Cup Stadium
Daejeon, South Korea
If that is not enough to tell you this is not a typical town ground, then look to the wall outside.
The pitch is hybrid grass, a modern surface laid down in 2021 to replace the natural turf that had served the club through its early years at the Daejin Hanbat Sports Complex.
It is not a venue that seeks attention, yet it holds weight in the region. Three matches were played here during the 2002 FIFA World Cup, including the quarter-final where South Korea faced Italy. A decade later, it hosted a quarter-final at the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup. A renovation project running from 2024 to 2027 is weighing up a move to replace the seats entirely, which could bring the number down to around 35,000.
