Darul Aman Stadium

The view from the stands at Darul Aman Stadium is dominated by a running track that separates the pitch from the seating. The track itself has seen work; in 2023, the Kedah State Government approved funds for its repair, responding to deterioration that had set in over the decades.

The stadium sits in Alor Setar, the capital of the Kedah state. It opened in 1962, following an international friendly where Malaya defeated South Korea 1–0. The Sultan of Kedah, Sultan Abdul Hamid Halim Shah, performed the official opening. Since that day, the venue has remained the home of Kedah Darul Aman F.C., which has used the ground since its inception.

The structure took its modern form in 1997, when it was expanded and converted into an all-seater stadium to host group stage matches of the 1997 FIFA World Youth Championship. This was the first FIFA tournament hosted by a Southeast Asian country. Matches held included Ghana versus the Republic of Ireland and China against the United States. Further upgrades followed in 2006 to prepare for the SUKMA Games, and in 2020, when the venue was brought up to Asian Football Confederation (AFC) standards for qualifiers. These included advanced CCTV, Full HD LED scoreboards, a media broadcast room, and improved floodlighting.

The playing surface is natural grass, specifically Bermuda grass. The capacity is 32,387 spectators. The official attendance record is 16,700, set on July 5, 2024, during the second leg of the Piala FA semi-final between Kedah Darul Aman FC and Penang FC.
