Elbasan Arena
Elbasan, Albania
Formerly: Ruzhdi Bizhuta Stadium
The ground in Elbasan carries a name that predates it. For decades the pitch was called Ruzhdi Bizhuta Stadium, after a local player. When the renovation finished in October 2014 the venue reopened as Elbasan Arena.
It is not the largest house in Albania, but it is one of the few where the pitch sits close to the stands. The surface is natural grass.
The first official match after the rebuild was an exhibition between the Albania national team and the U-19 side of KF Elbasani. Three days later the highest recorded attendance was set at 12,800 for a Euro 2016 qualifier against Denmark, a 1–1 draw. Since then the arena has hosted World Cup and European Championship qualifiers for the national side, though the fixtures are few and far between.
AF Elbasani moved in after the original club dissolved in 2021. The municipality manages the venue, and the address remains Sheshi Ruzhdi Bizhuta 1, where the old stadium once stood. Dinamo Tirana and Vllaznia Shkodër do not play here; they are housed in Durrës and Shkodër respectively.
