Stadium
Estadio Alejandro Serrano Aguilar
Cuenca, Ecuador
Formerly: El Ejido
El Ejido — the name still surfaces around Cuenca more often than the one on the gates — opened in November 1945 and carried that name for a quarter of a century before the city renamed it for Alejandro Serrano Aguilar, a former mayor. A 1971 rebuild closed out that transition, and the ground reopened in May of that year under the name it keeps now, with Banco del Austro attached as sponsor.
For most of its life the ground sat under a lease held by the Asuay provincial sports federation; since 2024 the Municipalidad de Cuenca has run it directly, bringing the stadium back under city control after decades of federation management.
