Estadio Carlos Salazar Hijo

Carlos Adolfo Salazar Hijo was a local sports commentator in Mazatenango. The stadium opened on 24 November 1966 under his name. It has never carried another one.

Locals call it the Coloso de Santa Cristina, after the district it sits in, on 1a Avenida. Club Social y Deportivo Suchitepéquez — Los Venados — moved in when it opened and have been the tenants ever since. The pitch is natural grass and gets relaid periodically.

Its biggest nights came in qualifying for the 2002 World Cup, when Guatemala brought the national side here: a 1-1 draw with the United States, and a 2-1 win over Costa Rica. CONCACAF youth tournaments were staged here in 1988 and 1992. On 31 January 2021 the ground hosted the final of the Guatemalan women's Apertura 2020, Unifut Rosal against Deportivo Xela. It has been used for music too — Los Tigres del Norte played here on 14 December 2013.

Not everything about the place is straightforward. Thefts from the dressing rooms, with players' belongings taken during matches, were reported in 2018 and again in 2020.

Comunicaciones FC have also used the stadium as a home ground, in 2023 and again for the Clausura 2026.
