Flamingo Land Stadium

Flamingo Land Stadium sits at the edge of Scarborough, a ground on Ashburn Road. The club left the crumbling brick of Ayresome Park behind and moved to this site, where the new era began in 2017. While the pitch remains natural grass, the Adverset Stand, a covered structure, provides shelter for the supporters.

The site is shared with Scarborough Ladies. The name itself comes from a sponsorship deal with the local theme park and zoo. When the gates first opened, the capacity was much smaller, but the ambition to grow has seen the numbers climb. The current limit of 3,252 places reflects those expansions, particularly the additions made after the initial opening. Cup football has its own rules, and on nights when the crowd swelled to over 3,000 for a match against local rivals Darlington, the ground felt full.

Ownership rests with the borough council, a fact that keeps the facility grounded in the town rather than the business world. The entrance, marked by the bold lettering of the Scarborough Football Club name, leads into a compact arena where the boundary between the pitch and the fans feels closer than in the larger stadiums further north. It is a place that has had to rebuild its identity along with its stands, moving from a sports village project to a home with a commercial name. The wind coming off the coast does not stop at the turnstiles; it moves through the uncovered sections of the stand, a reminder of the location's coastal setting.
