Hala Urania

The arena in Olsztyn is defined by its roof. Inside, the air is cool. The seats are arranged to bring the crowd close to the action regardless of the sport on the floor.

It sits on Aleja Marszałka Józefa Piłsudskiego. The building is not new, but the face it presents today is recent. A major overhaul finished in late 2023 changed the shape of the place, nearly doubling the number of fixed seats while keeping the fundamental character of the space intact. The synthetic parquet floor is marked for volleyball, a sport for which the hall has long been the primary home. The lights and the screen suggest a modern, multipurpose venue rather than a shrine to one game.

When the local volleyball side plays here, the hall tends to fill near capacity. The small arena connected to the main hall is used for handball, but the big hall remains the centre of gravity.
