The Hang Jebat Stadium stands in the Paya Rumput area near Krubong. Inside, the geometry changes. A red athletics track separates the seating from the grass, though the surface itself is natural.

Opened in September 2004, the stadium was built for the Hang Jebat Sports Complex initiative. It has hosted the national team on several occasions, often when local conditions elsewhere made play difficult. The Syrian side used it as a neutral home for World Cup qualifiers, camped in the final third against opponents they could not reach in their own country. Those matches, played under bright floodlights, saw the crowd sit back and watch rather than rush the field. The scoreboard glows green above the far end, counting down the minutes for both sides.

Local clubs have called this ground home since its inception. Melaka F.C. and SAMB F.C. currently play their fixtures here, while former tenants like Melaka United left their mark on the stands before the club dissolved. The capacity sits at 40,000, a number that has remained static since the opening. Yet the stands often feel larger than the game requires, especially when the weather turns against the teams. Players have seen it out in driving rain when the roof offered little more than a pause in the downpour. The track around the pitch adds an extra layer of distance for the defenders, who must cover ground they might not need on a standard football surface.

Maintenance has been a recurring theme. The state government has approved funds for drainage and grass upgrades, and the track itself required repair after years of use. These efforts keep the ground functional, even if the atmosphere rarely matches the size of the building. Visitors arrive, find a seat, and wait for the whistle. The stadium does not shout; it simply endures.
