Jackie Levy Stadium
Yavne, Israel
Formerly: Yavne Municipal Stadium, Yavne Stadium
The Jackie Levy Stadium The original title, Yavne Municipal Stadium, was replaced in 2015 to honour a goalkeeper for Maccabi Yavne who had passed away.
Its nickname, "The Cube", comes from the shape of the structure rather than any decoration. Two stands sit at right angles to each other, one stretching along the western side and the other running along the south. The western stand takes most of the 2,500 capacity, while the southern end feels more like a modest addition. Between them, the sightlines are straightforward, and the distance from the nearest row to the touchline is short enough for a shout to carry.
Grounds of this type tend to host local derbies and mid-table clashes. The pitch is natural grass, and the floodlights sit on tall masts behind the southern stand. There are no architects' flourishes here, only the functional layout of a municipal facility built to serve a town. When visitors arrive, they walk past the car park and through a gate marked with a number before finding the entrance to the western stand.
Nothing about the place suggests it was ever meant for anything beyond the Israeli leagues. It has not staged international fixtures, and the big cup finals played elsewhere. What it offers is proximity: the players walk out past the same concrete wall that now bears a different name, and the crowd sits close to the action. The 2,500 seats do not fill often, but on the rare occasion they do, the sound stays inside the structure rather than drifting away over the surrounding streets.
